Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Facial

It’s the hottest tend among A-list celebrities and is said to utilize the body’s own resources. It’s called platelet rich plasma therapy or most notably known as ‘the vampire facial’. It was named the ‘vampire facial’ and trademarked by Dr. Charles Runels of Birmingham, Alabama during the vampire craze of 2010. Although the treatment had been around for some time; it came to prominence when Kim Kardashian posted a photo on Instagram showing her red-faced afterwards. This further increased the rise in popularity for the ‘bloody’ facial.

The medical name for the procedure is formally known as: Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP. The PRP therapy works by withdrawing platelet rich plasma from the blood (PRP); then injecting it back into the face to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This helps to regenerate the skin and gives it a glowing, younger appearance which is said to last for 1 to 2 years. However, doctor’s do advise maintenance for longer results. Since the treatment utilizes the body’s own resources in the blood, doctors insist it is a very safe and natural procedure.

Despite the bizarre name, the facial really works to plump up the skin. It helps to lift and plump deep within the layers of the skin, effectively reversing the signs of aging. Many people who have tried it report a fuller and clearer face. And many insist that it’s a better, more natural alternative to other procedures such as facelifts, fillers, etc.

Personally to me, the idea behind PRP therapy is appealing, but what do you think? Would you try the platelet rich plasma (PRP) facial therapy for clearer, firmer skin? Do you think that the plasma really works to regenerate the growth of collagen and elastin? Does the idea of using your bodies own blood platelets to help rejuvenate your skin appeal to you?
